(Singapore Food Festival 2012)
This hallmark event started since 1994 and has moved its way up to Singapore’s yearly event calendar. It is definitely one of the most spectacular events in Singapore that people, especially Singaporeans, should attend. Throughout that period, there were many activities going on. For example at Kampong Gelam, there were workshops and masterclasses by the Singapore’s best Malay chefs and cooks, Festival food street, culinary adventure, storytelling sessions, exhibition, and book browsing and borrowing. Details can be found on http://singaporefoodfestival.com.sg/2012/

There were also events held at Little India and Sentosa, a mini island that is separated from Singapore. At the Singapore Food Festival Village, there were about 50 stalls set up selling their Singapore’s signature dishes such as the famous Chilli Crab, Creamy Butter Crab, Rojak with Prawn Paste, Sambal Stingray and many more.

Moreover, people got to enjoy a Seafood Platter consisting of the Chilli Crab or the Creamy Butter Crab with Supreme Seafood Fried Rice, Stir-fried Live Geoduck with Asparagus in XO Sauce, Crisp-fried Prawns tossed with Salted Egg Yolk, and Deep-fried Coral Trout in Nyonya Style at the price of $36.90++. The culinary demonstrations were done by famous chefs in Singapore such as Chef Eric Teo, Chef Annette Ang, Chef Manjunath Mural, Chef Shaikh Ajarul, Chef Rosalind Lim and Chef Sakthivel. Separate culinary demonstrations were also held at private places such as Chef Violet Oon held hers at her own kitchen, located at 881 Bukit Timah Road.
